While there is a long history of foiling in water sports only recently has it become widespread in accessibility and popularity.
Kite and wake foil boards have some specific features for foiling either behind a boat or using a kite. Some of these features are short lengths, low volume, and features in shape that help when launching and maximize the possibility for recovery should the board touch down on the water.
Dark Star Wake/Kite Foilboard
I designed the Dark Star to be a versatile board for kite or wake foiling. It features a narrow body at 18” to make it easier to keep the board at an angle when launching without footstraps. The rails have been beveled up from the bottom to help with the water start angle and to provide a bit of extra clearance on deep sweeping turns to avoid touchdowns. The board measures in at 42” in length to allow maximum range of motion without putting the nose in the water. The nose is upturned to help push the board up out of the water on a submerged water start and to help push the board back up in case of a nose first touch down. It can be made with or without footstrap inserts and features a standard twin track pedestal mount.
