My kite surfboards are designed around the specific demands of riding a surfboard while kiting. I will vary the shapes depending on what we are trying to accomplish with the board, such as making it easy to ride on light wind days, or stable to learn gybing. On all of them we use higher quality materials that you would find in a surfboard due to the extra demands that are placed on a kiteboard that a surfboard just doesn’t see. For example we use epoxy resins, which are stronger and more flexible to reduce cracking and crazing. We also use S-glass which is 25% stiffer and stronger than e-glass. Generally we glass them heavier too and add deckpads both for traction and to help absorb some of the energy from pounding across the waves. For the blanks we use higher densities of foam than a regular surfboard would be made of. All of these factors make for a stronger more durable board that is suited to the demands of kiteboarding and will give you years of enjoyment.
